About Hornby 2030

Purpose

This site is a private, working sketch of an operating vision for Hornby Railways: treat the track system as the product, kit complete layouts from a bill of materials, host a multi-brand marketplace (Hornby, brand-partner catalogue SKUs, collector stalls), and only tool new locomotives and stock when public interest — fed by collection and marketplace data — clears a published hurdle.

It is prepared as a Castelnau concept demonstration. It is not a shop, not a brand relaunch, and not an official Hornby Hobbies property.

What is in scope

• OO track plans from the Hornby Track Plans / train-set tradition (Starter Oval + Pack A, Compact Oval 2/13, Medium Oval 4/13) with SVG diagrams and current-range BOMs.
• A one-click “add entire plan to basket” flow, stored in this browser.
• A multi-brand marketplace: Hornby first-party, brand-partner catalogue SKUs (Peco plus invented complementary sellers), and collector listings.
• Brand storefronts for Hornby, Peco and invented complementary sellers — catalogue listings on the marketplace, not manufacturing partnerships.
• My collection — itemise stock against real catalogue numbers, mark completeness against a demo fleet, keep a wanted list, and list items for sale.
• GBP base prices with a header switcher (EUR / USD / AUD) using fixed demo FX rates.
• Make-to-interest candidates with a visible hurdle and a committed example.

What is not in scope

• Live payments, checkout backends, stock, or fulfilment — nothing here is hornby.com.
• Domain purchase or DNS for hornby2030.com — that name is a working target only.
• Trademark filing, licensing, or contact with Hornby, Peco, or any other party.
• Reproducing Hornby Track Plans book plates or hotlinking third-party plan images — layouts are redrawn as SVG.
• Live foreign-exchange APIs. Display conversions use fixed illustrative rates only.
• Auth, seller onboarding backends, CMS, email, analytics, or public-launch SEO.

Prices illustrative of public catalogue; verify on hornby.com. Peco lines use public Streamline / Lineside catalogue codes. Ashvale Scenic and Tideway Castings remain invented complementary sellers.
